Alto Inambari is one of the most unique and prized coffees in the world, coming from Sandia in Puno, near Lake Titicaca. According to legend, Manco Cápac and Mama Ocllo, children of the Sun, rose from its waters to establish the Inca Empire. Puno features diverse landscapes, from jungles to high Andes mountains, and is the fifth highest city globally at nearly 4,000 meters above sea level. The Andes provide fertile soils rich in minerals, perfect for coffee cultivation. After a five-hour trip from Juliaca, we reach Sandia, known for its tropical climate and altitudes over 1,600 meters. This is where we begin our search for exceptional Puno coffees. Alto Inambari, located at nearly 3,000 meters above sea level, produces some of the finest coffees in Peru due to its high elevation and fertile land.
