Decaf has never tasted so good. We sorted through countless decafs until we found the sugarcane process. Only done in Colombia, it leaves the coffee tasting just like it did before processing. Balanced low tones of chocolate and maple syrup with a sprinkle of fruity goodness make for a complex cup. Even though it is delicious by itself; this decaf takes cream and sugar like a champ.
More on EA Natural Decaffeination Process from Royal Coffee, one of our importing friends:
The Natural Decaf is decaffeinated using Ethyl Acetate (EA). In this method, the green beans are steamed or soaked to expand the beans for caffeine extraction. The expanded beans are then soaked in EA, which bonds with the caffeine molecules and breaks them away from the bean. The decaffeinated coffee is then removed from the EA solvent and rinsed thoroughly. EA is a naturally occurring organic compound found in fruits and vegetables that are synthesized for coffee decaffeination.
